Well, let me tell ya, there's some unbelievable craftsman offering their wares on the internet! As hard as it may be to believe in this day and age, there's still quite a few wood craftsman who do things right! Not only do most of these folks have years of experience, they also have techniques that were passed down for generations. So, no doubt you would get a one of a kind, unique home bar!
These guys will take a few weeks to months to build your home bar, but it is worth it! Once it's built, some companies will even fly out to where you live and install it for you. Though, you could always have the pieces delivered and put it together yourself. Options on these home bars go from custom carved wood with etchings, beautiful mirrors and shelving running up the walls, useful brass foot-rests, unique lighting installed inside the bar or in the shelves, and all kinds of different installed sinks and amenities. The companies that do this type of work have excellent consultants that work with you to get the style, and size of home wet bar that you desire. The work they do is literally jaw-droppingly gorgeous!

Buying a retail contemporary home bar
Ok, we've covered the high dollar custom built bars, which may not be viable for everyone, but now the following may surprise you a bit! Some of the most beautiful cheap home bars I've seen have been at your typical "mom and pop" internet furniture stores, or at online department stores, and the kicker is this: they're priced unbelievably well for the value, and craftsmanship they offer. Low end bars will run you at least $300 to $400, with the high end custom home bars coming in at $2000 to $3000.
Never in the history of retail has there been access to the quality, and quantity of products then right now. Luckily for us, we have internet access, and can find totally unique products at prices you would never find locally. It's truly incredible!
Shipping a Home Bar? Isn't that expensive?
So, you're thinking that buying a large wooden home bar, and having it sent to your home via UPS, or the Postal Service would be expensive?
Well, we are finding quite a few online retailers who have realized that having their customers paying shipping was a thorn in their side, and decided to do something about it. Many are now eating the price of shipping to move their products! Once again, internet shopping is helping the consumer in this instance. Not only do you get a great price that a local retailer may have trouble matching, but you may not have to pay shipping!!
We don't pay sales tax, do we?
Not generally. If the internet retailer happens to operate in your home state, you would pay sales tax. If they operate in another state across the USA, you won't pay sales tax.
So, not only are you generally going to save on sales tax, which would be quite high on a $500 to $3000 item... you're going to save tremendous amounts of cash on shipping! Which can be alot for a 100-200lb. wooden home bar!
Final Thoughts...
From the observations made in our article, I'd say it's a pretty strong case to definitely shop on the Internet. Though, you would always want to compare prices with your local shops. Call around, and visit the local furniture shops, we believe you'll find a smaller selection, and a higher price. Doing your homework could save you enough money to spend the difference on stocking that home bar!
